my story thus far…

I grew up in Fredericton New Brunswick where I graduated from the New Brunswick college of craft and design in 2003. I was in the graphic design program but I took a special interest in photography and painting.

Almost immediately after graduating I moved to Vancouver to be closer to the contemporary art scene that was orbiting the skateboard/snowboard culture at the time.

During the first few years in Vancouver I was heavily inspired by skateboarding, graffiti and street art. I was really trying to push myself creatively and I started taking any opportunity that I could to exhibit my work.

Being rather outgoing for an artist, I was frequently invited to exhibit my art in the many of group shows that were happening around the city. This is where I found common ground with some extremely talented contemporary artists. Many of whom became my studio mates and close friends.

From landing in Vancouver in 2003 until I left in 2017, I was contributing art to shows and events continually. I produced two solo shows, held residency with the Vancouver school board, Art Starts and the city of Vancouver. My work was recognized in the Georgia Straight magazine and I performed live painting at numerous events.

In 2017, I moved to Calgary to be closer to family and to start a new chapter in my life. For some time, my artwork took a back seat. I pursued a career outside of the arts which required me to return to school. I continued to paint regularly but was not exhibiting work at all.

In 2019, I cofounded a collective based in Edmonton. We aligned with The Works and were able to use their beautiful gallery on Jasper Ave to throw some very exciting art and music events. We were prepping for our third event when the Covid restrictions stopped us in our tracks.

Over the next few years I managed to paint prolifically while holding down a very demanding day job. I was selling art online and to my established collector base but I wasn’t exhibiting anywhere.

Jump all the way to 2024, I started showing work with my partner Michelle in local Calgary markets. We were blown away by the reception. I was thrilled by the interest that my pieces were generating. By this time, I had really found my voice as an artist. I found myself increasingly drawn to painting places that felt familiar or nostalgic.

In 2025, we moved to Medicine Hat to start yet another chapter of our lives. Were setting up a home studio as I write this.

Over the years, photography has become an important part of how I work. I’m constantly photographing places that catch my attention, whether it’s an old diner, a quiet street, a fluorescent storefront or a setting that I come across while travelling. Some of those photographs sit in my archive for years before eventually becoming paintings. I’m drawn to places that feel familiar and carry a sense of nostalgia. I'‘m inspired to create pieces that drive memorable and conversations and dig up emotions.

I have a new series in the works which will feature images that I’ve taken locally and I’m extremely excited to show this work.
